Pine Bluff Police Department reactivates bike patrol
The Pine Bluff Police Department has reactivated their bicycle patrol unit according to a press release.
According to the release The Pine Bluff Police Department says that the patrol has been a long time coming, but they are committed to delivering on our promises.
The last time the patrol was used was in 2015, but the department says it is now here to stay.
According to the release, all Bike Patrol Officers are Bike-CERTIFIED through the IPMBA (International Police Mountain Bike Association). IPMBA is the premier training organization for public safety cyclists. IPMBA training is recognized and respected as the gold standard for public safety cycling throughout the United States and beyond its borders. Five out of the nine of our officers received the top awards during training at IPMBA in Skill sets, Academics, and Shooting.
The Bike Patrol consists of 6 Patrol officers and 3 Supervisors

The Pine Bluff Police Department is asking for motorists to please move over for them when you see them out, and help us keep them safe.
The department adds that the bike patrol allows them a better opportunity to see the good in the people they serve and it allows us options in how they serve citizens.
Additionally, the department says that this is a component of the Community Policing model they have embraced.
The department also offered their thanks to citizens for supporting their efforts to be flexible in their service to the citizens of Pine Bluff.
